My Ceramics Journey: Capturing Human Connection and Love
My journey in ceramics began 10 years ago at a local arts college, where I created a light installation of 500 porcelain moths, suspended at different levels, converging towards a light source. This ignited my passion for art, leading me to pursue a degree in Sculpture at Edinburgh College of Art. There, I focused on bronze casting and installation art, with my pieces exploring relationships, love, and human connections.
Life then took me on a seven-year adventure to the vibrant cities of Sydney and Manhattan. Eventually, I returned to Lytham St Annes with a strong urge to reconnect with my artistic roots. I purchased a second-hand table top wheel for £100 and instantly fell in love with ceramics. Now, two years later, I have a beautiful countryside studio with two kilns and a professional potter’s wheel. Ceramics have become an integral part of my life, and I’m thrilled to share my creations with you all.
Human connection and love are the heartbeats of my work. My ceramic text art serves as the perfect vessel to express these inspirations. Each porcelain piece tells a story of love and connection, evoking emotions that resonate deeply with all of us. These pieces are more than just words; they are a tapestry of emotions, capturing the beauty and depth of love in all its forms.
Ceramics are my purest form of expression, drawing inspiration from everything I see, hear, and feel. One of my favourite aspects is witnessing people’s reactions to my work, as they touch and read each piece, triggering cherished memories. I’ve realized that my art has the power to capture fleeting moments of happiness and make them timeless.
I love nothing more than enjoying a glass of wine in a hidden bar, exploring libraries, morning yoga classes in the sunshine, and wandering through art galleries. Listening to people’s stories in unexpected places often sparks my ceramic inspiration. My future goal is to expand my studio to host Sip & Spin pottery classes, wheel throwing, and hand-building sessions, offering shared use of my kilns to fellow enthusiasts.
